English: Statue of Bertha Von Suttner (1843-1914), first woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize (in 1905) in The Peace Palace (Vredespaleis), The Hague. The statue was unveiled on the centenary of the Peace Palace (August 28, 2013) by Nobel laureate Leymah Gbowee. Suttner was the first woman to be memorialized in the Peace Palace via a statue. Steven van Hoogstraten, the then Director of the Carnegie Foundation of The Netherlands, oversaw the historic placement of Suttner's bust. The sculptress is Judith Pfaeltzer.
