English: Black & white photography of the Spanish torpedo boat BARCELO (original caption: "el torpedero BARCELÓ") published in page 20 of La revista moderna Año II Número 64 - 1898 mayo 21 (The modern review - 2nd Year - Issue #64 - May 21st, 1898) from Madrid. Photographies are credited to Lebrón from the Cádiz harbour. 20 days before this photography was published the Spanish navy vessel was captured by US Army disembarked troops at Cavite, Philippines and used by the US Navy under the following designations: Barcelo (tug), USS Barcelo (YT-105) and later Barcelo-I. This torpedo is converted to Yard Tug in 1920 and scrapped in 1929. Ship was named Barcelo in honor of XVIII century Spanish admiral Don Antonio Barcelo. |
