Vid tretiden natten till söndagen kom Ingrid Bergman och maken Roberto Rossellini till Stockholm och Berns salonger, där Svenska filmsamfundet med gäster och ett antal nyfikna, som stod utanför och ansågs böra räknas i femsiffrigt tal, troget väntat på de ungefär sju timmar försenade hedersgästerna.
