Looney Tunes

[edit]

I was reading your Looney Tunes filmography revision, and I'd like to help. Perhaps it would be best to use tables for a list like this? See Wikipedia:How to use tables; I discovered this when I was working on trying to make the Supremes discography a bit more readable; tables helped a lot. Let me know what you think. --b. Touch 22:31, 1 Mar 2005 (UTC)

You know, I had considered tables, but rejected it, thinking it would be best to just keep this a simple list. Maybe I should rethink that. I've got all the information on the cartoons in a local database, and can generate a table just as easily as a list. Tell you what -- I'll do just that, put up a second sample, and then try to start a discussion in the Talk page of the current Looney Tunes Filmography page. Let's see if we can get a consensus from Looney Tunes Wikipedians (or at least find out who they are!) Bjimba 16:20, 2005 Mar 3 (UTC)
I see you used the tables...lol. Would you mind if I did a few non-substantive edits? Also, since you have the cartoons in a database, do you have information on whether each one was a Looney Tune or a Merrie Melody? If you don't, don;t worry about it; this is plenty of information. --FuriousFreddy 02:16, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
FF, yes, I do have the LT/MM designation for each in the database. Make whatever changes you like, and I'll check the diffs. The "database" is nothing more than a CSV (comma-separated values) file that I run a Perl script on to get the pages. I suppose, eventually, I should "be bold" and replace the current "real" page. I have decided to attempt to advance and end the round quickly. Parts of the question will be revealed with more hints and/or be more elaborated on as every two days. Re: Disambiguation

[edit]

Hi Bjimba, and sincere apologies for the double edit.

I'm about to fix the link on Erin Go Bragh properly, but I'm stopping here to explain before I edit the main page. Apologies for not seeing your edit summary advising against the change after my first edit by the way — I do check Talk pages if I'm at all unsure about a meaning, but I don't often check the history before disambiguating. And I didn't spot I'd already seen the page on account of the sheer number of pages with similar contexts that have to be read when you're dab'ing.

I'll pipe your link to Gaelic (disambiguation) which is a redirect to the Gaelic dab page. This way, your link will point to the same place but won't look accidental anymore, and you won't be troubled by disambiguators passing through any more (promise!).

Incidentally, I've re-read the article and I think I've understood your point re the link to the dab. Have you considered piping the link to Goidelic languages though? That article is about the Gaelic languages generically, rather than any one specific Gaelic language (which is what I think you were trying to avoid).

Anyway, thanks for stopping me before I (or someone else) changed the link a third time! Peace, ~ VeledanTalk + new 22:33, 18 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The bug is a result of the use of "thumb" class in the template. Unfortunately classes are not compatible between skins (they should be!). The "thumb" class in default skin is very convenient. It's a pity I have to resign with it. I can fix the bug off-hand but it may cause some minor side effects. Give me a day or two, I am going to consult programmers. -- Klin | talk 20:30, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

Wikimedia UK/Wikimania 2006

[edit]

Hi, this is a circular to Wikipedians in Ireland to draw your attention to Wikimedia UK, where the establishment of a local Wikimedia chapter for the United Kingdom (and possibly for the Republic of Ireland) is being discussed. See the talk page, as well as the mailing list; a meetup will take place to discuss matters in London in September, for anyone who can get there. On another topic, plans are being drawn up for a UK bid for Wikimania 2006, which would be conveniently close to Ireland. On the other hand, Dublin's bid was one of the final three last year - might we bid again? --Kwekubo 03:41, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

WikiFun Round 10

[edit]

WikiFun Round 9 concluded today. You are asked to post 10 new WikiFun questions by October 28, along with the other two round winners. Alphax has declined in making the questions for the next round. Should no one post 10 questions by October 28, anyone can create the new WikiFun questions. Should the other two round winners not post 10 questions by October 28, you may add an additional 10 questions to make the round have at least 20 questions. Enjoy. --AllyUnion (talk) 06:26, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was trying to run DOSBox on my GP2X, but it wouldn't work. I don't know what was wrong, whether the instructions wern't accurate, or if DOSBox needs newer firmware. Please help me on this.

Could you tell me what did happen? There have been sporadic reports of the DosBox port not working on some folks' machines. We're trying to chase down the problems. Any information you can give me will help. Thanks! Bjimba 17:13, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Stephen schwartz publicity photo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Stephen schwartz publicity photo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Chowbok 04:26, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Wayne brady publicity photo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Wayne brady publicity photo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 18:44, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Erin Go Bragh flag.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Erin Go Bragh flag.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:31, 9 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Astrotrain 22:31, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The flag this image represents likely comes from the U.S. Civil War, and was a regimental banner for an Irish regiment. The image itself looks as if it were made in MS Paint, and likely has no copyright. A quick Google Image search for Erin Go Bragh pops up about 800 images which are exactly the same. No one will have a copyright for the thing. Erin Go Braghtalk 00:03, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bjimba! Thank you for your contributions. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notice

The file File:Harry Nilsson Son of Dracula.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Son of Dracula (1974 film)#Soundtrack album. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE and MOS:TVPRODUCTION.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:19, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
