RFC Request

[edit]

Dear Fellow Wikipedian

I would like to invite you to my RFC request on  the page One America News Networks. I am reaching out to you to include your expert opinion and your solution to this problem in the RFC request. Please also invite more editors so that we can have a fair discussion that will improve the page.

Kind Regards

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

You have been blocked from editing for abuse of editing privileges in relation to information which has been removed from Wikipedia's public records.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then email the Arbitration Committee at arbcom-en@wikimedia.org.

Administrators: Information which has been oversighted was considered when this block was placed. Therefore the Oversight team or the Arbitration Committee must be consulted before this block can be removed. Administrators undoing oversight blocks without permission from an oversighter risk having their administrator rights removed by the Arbitration Committee (per this announcement).

Suggestion

Here's my opinion on what you can do. I'm not an admin but may be helpful. starship.paint (talk) 00:49, 31 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

1) Composing your request to be unblocked - Understand what you did and why you have been blocked.

If your block relates to Oversight issues, then it concerns edits or log actions you have made which had to be suppressed. This is an extreme form of deletion used for removing potentially defamatory material, serious copyright violations, and non-public personal information including but not limited to addresses, phone numbers, or identities of pseudonymous or anonymous individuals who have not made their identity public. (link)

2) Give a good reason for your unblock - convince the reviewing administrator that you won't do it again.

3) Stick to the point

Focus on the concerns of the blocking admin and the situation going forward. Show that you understand the blocking administrator's concern and what he/she wants you to do better. Blocks happen because the community has to prevent certain behaviors, and we want you to understand some things matter to us. If you show willingness to appreciate our concerns, discuss the incident in good faith, genuinely learn from mistakes, and show you can keep to the spirit of community policies, often that is all that's needed.

4) Talk about yourself, not others - Do not complain about other people, Do not excuse what you did with what others did.

5) Agree to follow Wikipedia community customs

If you are blocked for something you did wrong, and especially if you are blocked for a long time, you are more likely to be unblocked if you:

  1. Admit to it. All your contributions to Wikipedia are logged. There is no point in denying something that you did do (or that other editors examining the record agree it is very likely that you did), because your edits can and will be checked. Even if they were deleted, all administrators, including the one who will answer your unblock request, can still see it.
  2. Give people a reason to trust you again. Promise, credibly, that you will stop doing whatever got you blocked. Earn back our trust by proposing improvements to articles or proposing firm steps you will take so the issue cannot happen again.
  3. Don't do it again. If you were blocked for an offensive statement or legal threat, do not repeat it in your unblock request. Even if you feel that your conduct did not deserve a block, evidently at least one administrator disagrees with you on that point. Assume that the reviewing administrator will agree with the block, and write your request in a way that cannot give further offense.
  4. Tell us why you are here. Say how you intend to help contribute to the encyclopedia after you are unblocked. See here for some ideas about what you could do.

6) Email the Arbitration Committee at arbcom-en@wikimedia.org

Hope this helps. starship.paint (talk) 00:49, 31 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tashi has left this project

I contacted Tashi on Polish Wikipedia and this is their response. [1] starship.paint (talk) 01:20, 1 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for the information but two days ago I wrote a letter to Arbitration Committee saying that due to the false accusation of antisemitism (for which I was blocked), I decided not to be active on English Wikipedia anymore. I've tried to explain my mistakes and if you saw the discussion you should notice that I did everything (in my opinion) I should. Best regards Tashi dyskusja 21:47, 31 maj 2019 (CEST) Btw. If you mind adding {{RETIRED}} to my user page on English Wikipedia, I would be obliged. Tashi dyskusja 21:50, 31 maj 2019 (CEST)
