Sourcing
[edit]Using scripture as a source
[edit]Scripture should almost never be used by itself as a source for articles about religion. Scripture is often hard to interpret, so not only is it a WP:Primary source, but it is a primary source that different religions interpret differently. (For instance, the first five books of the Hebrew Bible are accepted as scripture by many religions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.)
If a passage of scripture is being used to illustrate a point, it must be accompanied by a secondary source that supports the interpretation and the point being illustrated.
