Notability

[edit]

@Koala15: you can't just assume notability. You have to prove it according to the standards of Wikipedia:Notability_(films). With WP:RS, you have to show that "[it] has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." It shouldn't be too hard if the film is really notable.--Shibbolethink ( ) 17:29, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, its a movie starring Ronald Reagan, released by Paramount Pictures. Of course its notable. A quick google search could tell you that. Koala15 (talk) 19:14, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Notability is not inherited simply because Ronald Reagan was in it. See WP:NOTINHERITED. The film is not notable simply because Paramount Pictures released it, or because Ronald Reagan was in it. Also, it's rude and also against policy to remove tags without establishing the lacking info, or explaining in a cogent way why you're removing it. You're just removing it because you believe the film to be notable. You have to show it is using secondary sources, like everyone else. The film is not notable simply because it exists, see WP:ITEXISTS. I'm creating an AfD because you've failed to provide notability via WP:RSes, and it appears as though you don't even think you should be required to.--Shibbolethink ( ) 05:14, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Shibbolethink - WP:NOTFILM first details WP:GNG under the heading "General principles". The "Other evidence of notability" is exactly that - other evidence. 99 times out of 100, a film will meet WP:GNG and be a de-facto keep at an AfD. If you want to discuss this more, please raise it at the Film Project. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 07:43, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
