Requested move 3 June 2015

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved to Al-Awda (guerrilla organization). There's a clear consensus that the common name is "Al-Awda" so we can change that. But there's no consensus on whether it's the primary topic, and also no consensus on the separate of issue of what disambiguator should be used if one is required (as no consensus, we default to the status quo "guerrilla organization"). If anyone feels strongly about either of the latter issues they are welcome to start a new RM to focus solely on one of them. Jenks24 (talk) 14:15, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Return (guerrilla organization)Al-Awda – From what I've seen, the group's Arabic name is much more commonly used. Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 19:54, 23 June 2015 (UTC) --Relisted. George Ho (talk) 01:40, 10 June 2015 (UTC) Charles Essie (talk) 21:57, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't matter if Al-Awda doesn't point here as a disambiguation note can be left at the top of the moved article. It could also point out that it is a different organisation to the Palestinian activist/educational group. -- haminoon (talk) 05:52, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It is a primary topic change, so requires evidence that the primary topic is this topic and not the current target of the redirect, which is not this topic -- 70.51.202.183 (talk) 08:31, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This would be done if there was no primary topic - do you think that is the case? I haven't heard al-Awda used in English much for the Palestinian concept (except when referring to the activist group). -- haminoon (talk) 10:53, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know which use of "al-Awda" is primary topic, at the moment the term redirects to Palestinian right of return so apparently somebody considered it the more prominent use of the term. WarKosign 12:27, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That was in 2007 when the Iraqi group was much less significant. If there are only two topics a disambiguation page should be used only if there is no primary topic. -- haminoon (talk) 23:05, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment potentially another item to go on a navigation page would be Salman al-Ouda whose surname has the same spelling in Arabic and may be pronounced in a variety of ways.
Suggest Al-Awda (militant group). To me guerrillas (in ref to the noble animal) are best associated with the Jungles of africa and not the palm lined streets and parks of Baghdad. The common designation is "group" and militant group is a widely used description. @WarKosign, Haminoon, and Tiamut:. GregKaye 08:18, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
