What?
[edit]This has to be one of the most confusing articles. The plot is not well-clarified and you cannot tell what is actually meant in some places. It really needs to be more coherent. 66.77.129.3 19:14, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
You;re right. This article is bewildering and poorly written, even by wiki's manifestly loose standards. I especially like the phrase "the spinster Mrs. Rowe." 'Spinster' is an old-fashioned (most would say sexist) term for a woman who has never married, i.e., does not use the title 'Mrs.'. Perhaps the author meant 'widow.' But taking the time to get facts straight or provide a cogent overview of the movie would apparently have been too much hard work and trouble.Maccb (talk) 01:15, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- Spinster isn't a sexist term. How'd you get that crazy idea? 2600:8800:218F:2D00:78ED:23FA:2B44:6C9D (talk) 02:12, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
Restoring spoiler warning
[edit]There has been heated debate about use of the Spoiler tag in synopses, sometimes used without need. As per WP:SPOIL, use is justified when that knowledge of the spoiler would substantially diminish many readers' or viewers' enjoyment of the work." This policy (as retrieved 2007-06-06) also discourages use in Plot sections, but I believe the warning around "twist" plot developments is justified to minimize readers' enjoyment of the film. That is, seeing the film and knowing that Holland isn't alive' ruins the mystery and growing suspense of the first hour. If you object to the spoiler, discuss it here, and please do not remove it, initiating an edit war. Thanks. // David Spalding (☎ ✉ ✍) 13:58, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Interestingly, the 20th Century Fox DVD issue of this film HAS THE SPOILER spelled out in the plot synopsis on the back of the package! A horrible mistake which ruins the impact for anyone who reads it.Kelzeegla (talk) 07:11, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
