Outback track

[edit]

The fuel supply information is VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY important to have on this article. It should not be removed by changing the template with out consensus. Permits are also very important as knowing if you can take these roads with out telling the police is also important. --LauraHale (talk) 06:21, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Resolve possible ambiguity

[edit]

The original text, "The track leaves the Stuart Highway 70 kilometres north of Alice Springs, follows the Plenty Highway for the first 30 kilometres, and finishes near Lake Nash" implied that the Sandover Highway began at the Stuart Highway. In fact it begins 27 km east of the Stuart Highway, by branching north from the Plenty Highway. I have re-written the main body of the article to reflect this, and have calculated the distance of 561 km from that turnoff to the border where the highway ceases to be a Northern Territory responsibility.
