According to Russian sources, the ship that rammed Baton Rouge was K-276, ru:Кострома (подводная лодка), also known as Crab, not Karp. Details here [1]. NVO (talk) 15:25, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Yes, there is some confusing crossing of information going on here. This article lists the Carp as having been launched in 1986, but I'm looking at a Norwegian photo of her taken in 1984... I believe it was the other Barracuda-class, the Crab, that was launched in 1986 (the Russian Wikipedia also say this). The Carp must have been launched in 1983. Also, I think the notation that the Carp was formerly named the Kostroma is wrong -- it is the Carp that was later named the Kostroma -- unless both subs were named "Kostroma" at one time or anotherm, which seems unlikely. Therefore I am making these two changes and deleting some other dubious info. However, I wonder what else is wrong in this article. Herostratus (talk) 05:04, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
