Bohmerland aluminum wheels

[edit]

Böhmerland (motorcycle) wheels were aluminum (Mick Walker, The Art of the Motorcycle, p 157), and from what I can tell almost nobody uses pure aluminum for structural purposes. The fancy term alloy often confuses the issue, like alloy is better than aluminum, when in almost all cases it's the same thing. Sometimes marketing says alloy and they are hoping you'll imagine its magnesium. Anyway, we shouldn't structure this like Böhmerland's wheels were that different. The big change was that they moved in to the mass market in the 1970s. Probably because of new manufacturing processes. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 18:53, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
