Promotional editor

[edit]

User:Wikicamlex is single-purpose account, clearly with conflict-of-interest and almost certainly the subject or his publicist, who has made no edits other than create this article and add promotional content to it. He is now edit-warring to add edits that violate numerous Wikipedia guidelines and the Manual of Style. I have warned him on his talk page that his edit-warring is problematic and to bring his concerns to this talk page.--Tenebrae (talk) 00:04, 18 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Wikicamlex: As a journalist myself, I have enormous respect for what you've accomplished in your career. And given both our knowledge of journalistic ethics, I'm sure you can understand how editing an encyclopedia article about oneself can be problematic. It's not strictly forbidden under the guideline at WP:COI, but "is strongly discouraged. It undermines the public's confidence in Wikipedia, and risks causing public embarrassment to the individuals being promoted." Without even knowing this was you, as you state in your most recent edit-summary, it was easy to spot bias and promotional editing, as noted in the post above, (I would also note that outing of anonymous editors is a serious breach, and I would not have mentioned you as being the subject if you already had not done so yourself.)
The specifics of why that sentence was deleted are that it violated WP:DATED, which disallows use of terms such as "recently" or "currently" (since times goes on and when is "recently" or "currently"?) and because we also promote a subject's latest project in the lead, which is meant to be a brief encapsulation of highlights and milestones. On another topic, I would also note that we don't embed outside links into article prose, as you did with Satchell in the Bibliography. We only put a footnote or, if we include the ISBN and publishing information, we don't then need a separate footnote.
The best advice I can give is that you not edit an article about yourself until and if you're thoroughly proficient in the Five Pillars of Wikipedia. Until then, the most ethical thing to do is to place requests here and ask other editors to make the edit if appropriate. I hope this helps, and I'm around if you need me. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:41, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

RA and Humera

[edit]

Larry, If you are having pain in your wrists, please see a great neck orthopedic doctor or two. I know a few people who were told that they had RA, but it actually was due to problems in their neck that would cause pain all over, especially in arms and wrists. My close family member had pain the the back, knees, shoulders, and wrist and he had to do a neck surgery and he recovered from all pain. 172.222.136.213 (talk) 23:37, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
