Too Many Versions

[edit]

The introduction keeps changing! Can someone edit and provide citations, or can we semi-protect it for a while? Mr. E. Sánchez (talk) 22:49, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't think a semi would help much, but it does need refs. I'll see if I can get some. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:23, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Salary Comment

[edit]

I do not like Langford ... at all. That said, I believe the following sentence is not neutral, not informative, and not "irony."

Ironically, Jefferson County senators on the same day approved bills by a 6-1 vote that would give Birmingham's mayor a $40,000 pay raise in the next term. term.[7] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kavika411 (talkcontribs) 20:13, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Not NPOV. I zap it, if it's still there and see who barks.--Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:55, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

30th mayor not 28th

[edit]

This is the ref, but I can't put it in the page: http://www.informationbirmingham.com/birmingham-mayor.aspx --Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:51, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Harvard Education

[edit]

Attending a mayor's conference at Harvard hardly qualifies one as studying at Harvard. Furthermore, it isn't even mentioned in the citation given. I'm saying this as an Alabama native, not as a former Harvard grad, although trust me it's hurts even look at the names Langford and Harvard in the same page.

Proportion

[edit]
  • The details on his actions regarding Gay Pride events and his gift of ceramic unicorns to the council are quite out of proportion to the context of an encyclopedic biographical entry. He has long been known for outlandish demonstrations and outbursts. Perhaps that material could be condensed into a more general section on his controversial (as distinct from allegedly criminal) behavior. --Dystopos (talk) 05:37, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Missing info

[edit]

What about Langford's career on the Birmingham City Council? As mayor of Fairfield? The article gives the impression that his political career began in 2002. The fact is that he was already well known by then. — ℜob C. alias ÀLAROB 21:27, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, and what about his new career in prison industry, at $2.12 per hour? There is no mention of that, either. This article is woefully incomplete. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.19.143.16 (talk) 23:23, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
