Official tally of the CNE's audited minutes by the opposition ratifies Edmundo as president-elect with 6,275,182 votes in favor.

[edit]

Statements made by opposition leader Maria Corina Machado announced the results of the elections based on the official minutes issued by the voting centers of the National_Electoral_Council_(Venezuela) where, with 73.2% of the counted ballots, Edmundo González Urrutia obtained 6,275,182 votes, while the current president Nicolás Maduro obtained 2,759,256 votes in the election. Said tally sheets may be viewed on the web page enabled for such purpose. https://resultadospresidencialesvenezuela2024.com

@Rjceledon: According to La Patilla How to access the web page for checking the electoral records that Maduro blocked in Venezuela (Q128131622) and from my own attempts to access the site, resultadospresidencialesvenezuela2024.com currently only allows access to registered Venezuelan voters. This makes sense in terms of priorities, but it means that the wider world has to wait before getting access to the election results. Boud (talk) 21:20, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 3 August 2024

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved. Per WP:2DABS, a disambiguation page is not really required since it has only two entries. By pageviews, this Edmundo González is the clear primary topic and per the discussion this appears to be the common name. Edmundo González UrrutiaEdmundo González – Most sources refer to the subject as Edmundo González instead of his full name. Even Spanish Wikipedia refers to him as Edmundo González. Zinderboff(talk) 16:54, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WOW, that ignorance. It is a Spanish naming customs. Urrutia was his mother's first surname! Would you please do something else than trying to write on an encyclopedic article about South America. --87.170.195.172 (talk) 17:03, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
WOW2. So, you want to move this article to a dab page (??), when Spanish naming customs are a good way to distinguish very common similar names? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:16, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There's a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC argument to be made over a retired Chilean admiral, but I'm not going to make it. Not until he's sworn in. Moscow Mule (talk) 19:37, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the pageviews analysis" by a tool with Wikimedia Cloud Services (WMCS) that illustrates that 1,000's of users are visiting wikipedia pages for this presidential candidate. Wikipeadia viewers are looking for him, not the Chilean Admiral. They are not waiting- they have already decided who they are interested in viewing. -- Ooligan (talk) 19:05, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per nom and add a hatnote to the admiral. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:32, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wait at best, per SandyGeorgia - sources may refer to him as Edmundo González, but he is not the only Edmundo González, and while he would surely be the primary topic if he manages to take de facto power, that hasn't happened yet. Kingsif (talk) 21:45, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kingsif. He does not have to "take defacto power" as you wrote above, because in an aspiring democracy, the citizens temporarily give power to the elected. The Wikipedia project should be reflect his WP:COMMONNAME now because he is currently, better known worldwide, than "Admiral Edmundo González Robles is a Chilean admiral, former commander in chief of the Chilean Navy, appointed by the Supreme Government of Chile for the period June 2009 - June 2013."
This "former" commander's recent past appointment is not comparable to the current candidate to elective office per Wikipedia:PRIMARYTOPIC. He is now and will be in the news for years in the future, even if he is prevented from serving in the office, while a former commander will continue fade into obscurity. -- Ooligan (talk) 16:16, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Kingsif That link has #1 to #5. What number do you think applies? --Ooligan (talk) 04:19, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    @Kingsif Please, reply. -- Ooligan (talk) 21:52, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm ignoring you per WP:DONTFEED based on the fact you have to be acting deliberately obtuse to have gone to that link, read the lengthy introduction to the concept, and not acknowledged how it applies to your argument being that the subject will be in the news for years in the future, even if he is prevented from serving in the office, while a former commander will continue fade into obscurity. Don't ping me if you're going to be indignant. Kingsif (talk) 22:10, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Several Edmundo Gonzalez have already articles, plus his second surname is widely known. FCBWanderer (talk) 13:41, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is only one other person with Edmundo Gonzalez in their name which has an article. Zinderboff(talk) 17:15, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
