The Introduction of This Article Has Been Cleaned Up, The Rest Needs Attention

I've reformulated a lot of the introduction to this article. I believe that this article was basically translated and then copy + pasted from German to english, so everything beneath the Introduction needs some tender love and care. There are a couple of really confusing sentences, so it may help to have a german-speaking editor take a look.
