Mohammed I of Kanem was King of the Kanem–Bornu Empire following the death of his brother, Kuri II. He was the final of four sons of Abdullahi II to reign briefly before losing his life in battle with the Sao.[1] His death and the inability of the sons of Abdullahi II to win the Sao wars led to a suspension of patrilineal succession.
