The dust of guru’s lotus feet having,

I cleanse the mirror of my soul sparkling,

Raghuvar’s spotless glory I be singing,

The four fruits of life it ever is giving.

I am void of all the wisdom but so realizing,

On the son of the wind am meditating,

Strength, wisdom, knowledge be his blessing,

Of the suffering and sin - may he be removing.

Chaupai

Victory to Lord Hanuman ocean of wisdom and virtue,

Hail the Monkey lord, illuminator of the three worlds.....(1)

Ram’s emissary, abode of matchless power,

Anjani's son, named 'Son of the Wind'......(2)

Great hero, mighty as a thunderbolt,

Remover of evil thoughts and companion to the good.....(3)

Golden–hued and splendidly adorned,

With heavy earrings and curly locks......(4)

In your hands shine mace and banner,

A sacred thread adorns your shoulder.....(5)

You are Shiva's son and Kesari's joy,

Your glory is revered throughout the world......(6)

Supremely wise, virtuous and clever,

You are ever intent on Lord Ram's work.....(7)

You delight in hearing of the Lord's deeds,

Ram, Lakshman and Sita dwell in your heart......(8)

Assuming a tiny form you appeared before Sita,

Yet you burnt Lanka in an awesome form.....(9)

Taking dreadful form you slaughtered demons,

And completed Lord Ram's mission......(10)

Bringing the magic herb 'Sanjeevan', you revived Lakshman

And Lord Ram embraced you with delight.....(11)

Greatly did Lord Raghu praise you-,

“You as dear to me as my brother, Bharat!”......(12)

"May the thousand mouth serpent sing your glory",

So saying Sripathi, Sita's husband, drew you to himself.....(13) [[Ravi Manda: the above may be incorrect -[edited: Umesh] sahas badan - is my entire body; tumro jas gave - is hails your glory throughout. as kahi sripathi kanth lagaavein - this literally indicates that Rama is Vishnu's avatar. Sri means Lakshmi, hence Sripathi is Vishnu.]]

Sanak and the great sages, Bhrama, and the holy saints,

Along with Narada, Sarasvati and the king of serpents......(14)

Yama, Kubera and the guardians of the quadrants,

Poets and scholars- none can truly express your glory.....(15)

You rendered great service to Sugriva,

Bringing him to Lord Ram - you gave him kingship......(16)

Vibhishana heeded your counsel,

And became Lanka's King, as all the world knows.....(17)

Though the sun is thousands of miles away,

You swallowed it, thinking it a sweet fruit.....(18)

Holding the Lord's ring in your mouth,

You leapt across the Ocean - not surprisingly.....(19)

Every arduous task in this world,

Becomes easy, by your grace......(20)

You the guardian of Ram's gate,

None enters without your consent .....(21)

All bliss one finds when taking refuge in you,

When you are there to protect why should one fear?.....(22)

You alone can withstand your splendor,

The three worlds tremble with your roar.....(23)

Ghosts and goblins dare not come near,

When your name Great hero - 'Mahavir' is uttered......(24)

All Illness and pain is destroyed,

Who repeat your name brave Hanuman ever unceasingly.....(25)

Hanuman frees one from all the calamity,

Who remember him in thought, word and deed......(26)

Ram the renunciate reigns over all,

And you carry out his every task.....(27)

Whoever yearns for you will undoubtedly be,

Sipping nectar (an abundant life) through life contently......(28)

Your splendor fills the four ages,

With your glory you enlighten the world.....(29)

You are the guardian of saints and sages,

The destroyer of demons, darling of Lord Ram .....(30)

You of eight siddhis nine nidhis giver be,

As Mother Janki gave this boon happily.....(31)

You the store-house of Ram’s love surely,

Remaining Ram’s servant ever unceasingly......(32)

Singing your praise, one finds Ram,

Destroying the sorrows of countless lives past .....(33)

At death one goes to Ram's own abode,

Ever to be known as Hari’s devotee......(34)

There is no need to give thought to any other deity,

Serving Hanuman, one gains all delight.....(35)

All affliction ceases, all pain is removed,

By remembering the mighty Hero, Hanuman......(36)

Victory! Victory! Victory! to Lord Hanuman,

Be merciful as the divine master .....(37)

Who ever recites this a hundred times,

Is released from all bondage and gains bliss ......(38)

Those reciting the `Hanumanchalisa’,

Attains success – Gauri's Lord (Lord Shiva) bears witness .....(39)

The very embodiment of all the blessings,

King of immortals, in my heart be dwelling,

With Ram, Laxman and Sita be ever residing.
