Fair use?

[edit]

This image has been used in several major news articles and seems to have some potential for commercial use. I think it's not quite fair to call it fair use, at least without some review. Jan-Janko (talk) 00:38, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This file should not be speedy deleted as having an invalid fair-use claim, because... (your reason here) --Personisinsterest (talk) 01:20, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

At the end of the day, the photo captures a significant news event. News is news. 2604:3D09:A783:B700:DAC:D19B:9FA9:5007 (talk) 10:25, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Legitimate argument in favor of keeping image. There is an ongoing discussion about this.

Lower res version available

[edit]

I have a 300 x 280 low resolution version here. Kierandude (talk) 02:26, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Poor Quality of Photo

[edit]

I'm not sure if it's just my computer, but the quality of this photo is pretty poor, so even if the photo doesn't get deleted, I believe a higher-quality file should replace what we have right now InfiniteSword (talk) 02:26, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As it's a copyrighted image, fair use sets out that we should not reproduce the image in full (WP:NFCC#3b). Adabow (talk) 02:31, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Better version (regarding NFCC)

[edit]

There is a better version of the image from the different source here. Suggesting adding a cropped and smaller-resolution version of it. MrMacduckinson (talk) 06:31, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Raised fist

[edit]

I believe that this image should be included on the raised fist article, as it is an iconic image of a notable historic event, featuring that gesture. Uglytriangle999 (talk) 19:55, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Such use would not meet Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria #1 and #8. Ca talk to me! 10:49, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong image source cited

[edit]

The summary says that the original publication is Business Insider. The caption underneath the image published by Business Insider and every other news media I have seen says, "Photograph: Evan Vucci/AP". Space4Time3Continuum2x🖖 14:23, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Space4Time3Continuum2x: I changed to the AP news. SCP-2000 17:00, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
