This graph is old. The continued satellite data is here:

The trend lines would be much different.

It would also be much different if the high years 1979 - 1982 had been included rather than deliberately omitted to make the slope of the lines appear higher than they really are. Ray Tomes (talk) 09:52, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What's going on? I've just graphed the data from http://vortex.nsstc.uah.edu/data/msu/t2lt/uahncdc.lt and it is quite different from that portrayed here. Please explain!!! Cheers MarkC (talk) 13:34, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See discussion here:

I would add that the creators of this page do not want the real data to show. They are biased even to the extent that they will modify the data that they show. What happened to the N-POV standard. If it can not apply to the analysis can't it at least apply to the charts and graphs ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.244.57.18 (talk) 22:32, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think that Al Gore should give back his Nobel Prize. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.244.57.18 (talk) 22:35, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This graph should be either updated or removed as it is misleading. Furthermore, there are problems with the trendline start date as noted by others and problems in appending the surface temperature record to the satellite record, which was of course done in an attempt to magnify the apparent rise in temperature. If a less convenient date for the start of the record was chosen, say 1940, we would see a dramatic fall in temperature for ~40 years during a time of enormous growth in CO2 output post WWII.

Additionally, if the trendline is plotted from the start of the satellite record in 1979 through 1997 (before the huge 1998 El Nino) you can see that the slope is very close to zero. And the slope post 1998 through today (Apr 2011) is close to zero as well (maybe even negative). It appears there was a step change in temperature at the time of the 1998 El Nino. How CO2 has no effect from '79 to '97 and then causes a step change in temperature in 1998 (without further annual rises since 1998) is not explained by any scientific data or analysis that I have seen. Also, for the record, the latest satellite temperature record data can be found here, though it will represent an "inconvenient truth" to the global warmists.

Out of date

[edit]

This graph is 7 years out of date. Can someone please update it from the data source? LK (talk) 01:15, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
