English: Widnes Dock Adjacent to the entrance to the St Helens Canal at Spike Island, on the east side of Widnes, there was once a wet dock with a separate entrance lock from the River Mersey. The dock has been closed for many a year but is still used for fishing. In the foreground is the infilled entrance lock chamber.
