Summary

Description

Plaque in memory of John Peele Clapham (1801-1875). It is fixed on the north wall of the nave of West Park United Reformed Church, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Clapham was a benefactor and philanthropist, in that he founded Sunday schools and chapels, and served on the building committee of the above church. The plaque says:

"In memory of John Peele Clapham Esqr. J.P., born July 7th 1801, died Novr 19th 1875. Chairman of the building committee of this church, he took a deep interest in the spread of the Kingdom of Christ, and through a long life earnestly devoted himself to the service of his master. He giveth His beloved sleep. Erected in filial love by J.A. Clapham."
