• The scene was created via computer technology; Special effects supervisor Toby Lindala created the "alien spider" as well as a special facial appliance that allowed the creature to crawl out of Skur's mouth and into his victim (Expanded upon in the "Production" section). Furthermore, many critics positively commented on the scene: Todd VanDerWerff from The AV Club wrote positively of the "alien spider thing", describing it as "wonderfully gross". Paula Vitaris from Cinefantastique described the episode's visuals as ""outstanding" (Expanded upon in the "Reception" section.)
• The image represents a sequence that's presence significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and thus, its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. Describing the sequence solely using words (alien spider crawling from one mouth to another) does not do the image justice, nor does it adequately describe the situation to the reader, nor does it show, in detail, the intricacy of the digital effects.
