English: A three-masted Sampan Panjang of about 1880: from a model in the Raffles Museum collection. The same collection contains a second almost identical hull, set with three dipping lugsails and a single headsail, to which the name "Gubang" is given on the accession card. The two are clearly closely related, and it seems likely that the Gubang was merely the Malacca Strait version of the present boat.
This picture is a reproduction of a drawing by C. A. Gibson Hill.
