English: Shaleworks - Murrurundi, NSW, File FL1705487 (State Library of NSW). The photograph shows the shale oil works of the British Australian Oil Company, at Murrurundi, New South Wales, where oil shale from the Mt Temi oil shale mine was processed in retorts to produce crude shale oil and ammonia that was used to make ammonium sulphate. The photo dates from 1925 or earlier. The oil works was operational from 1911 to 1915.
