English: This image shows an exposure of Rock Point Formation of the Chinle Group capped by Entrada Formation sandstone. The Rock Point Formation is a Triassic siltstone formation, notable for a number of dinosaur quarries in the Chama Basin. The Entrada Formation is a Jurassic formation, separated from the Rock Point Formation by the regional J-2 disconformity, a gap of about 45 million years in the geologic record. |
