Summary

Description
English: This photograph was taken by me at the Ramalingeshwara group of temples (also spelt Ramalingeshvara) in Avani, Kolar district, Karnataka state, India. There are shrines dedicated to other characters from the Hindu epic Ramayana as well, namely, Lakshmanalingeshwara, Bharatalingeshwara, Shatrugnalingeshwara, Anjanayeshwara and Sugriveshwara. The temples were initially built by the local Nolamba dynasty in the 10th century and later additions were made by the Chola dynasty. The architecture is basically Dravidian.
