Summary

Description
English: Plasma propulsion engine with a long electromagnetic shaft to accelerate the plasma propellant to high velocities out the back of the thruster. The long shaft houses a superconducting magnet, such as YBCO, that can be superconducting at higher tempuratures and can be passively cooled by the low tempuratures of space, radiators around the shaft to block the sunlight from reaching the superconducting magnet core and to help dissipate heat form the superconducting magnetic core. Minimal energy would be needed from the solar panels and battery/capacitor storage even if the YBCO temperatures went marginally above its superconductive state of 92 Kelvin (Critical Temperature). The fusion plasma beams would pulse out the back for thrust every few seconds so the superconducting electromagnets wouldn't become too hot and loose their superconductivity. The cargo containers in the front are hexagonal and modular so it can be scaled up to carry even more containers. It would be assembled in space and stay out in space/orbit, conventional liquid propellant rockets would bring the cargo from the surface to the cargo transporter for the long haul interplanetary manifests. The 18 front storage tanks can hold 3,600 cubic feet or over 500 kg of Helium 3, back storage tanks hold hydrogen for added thrust if necessary. Rendered with Sketchup and V-Ray.
