Description
English: The Paris Observatory in the beginning of the eighteenth century. The tower on the right was the wooden Marly Tower, originally built to lift water for the Versailles reservoirs and fountains, that astronomer and director Giovanni Domenico Cassini moved to the grounds at great expense for the mounting of long tubed telescopes and even longer tubeless Aerial telescopes[1]
