DescriptionPaeonia ludlowii furled leaves top view.jpg
English: The feathery and rather claw-like young leaf blades of a lengthening Spring bud of Paeonia ludlowii, viewed from above, showing the coppery-pink undersides of the tightly-furled leaves, beneath which (not visible here) is a young flower bud. Also visible here - the bright green, brown-tipped upper surfaces of the gaping bud scales from which the leaves and flower bud are emerging. Bud borne by a mature specimen of this beautiful tree peony species growing in a private garden in the London suburb of West Ealing.
