English: Picture of Walter De Maria's art installation The New York Earth Room (1977) at Dia Art Foundation's satellite location in Soho, New York, in 2024. An expansive room painted stark white, filled with brown earth several feet deep spread mostly uniformly across the entire room. The dirt fills the room from wall to wall and continues into other partly visible rooms. A glass barricade the same height of the dirt spans the width of the entryway, keeping the earth inside the room. The reflection of the wooden floor in the entryway is visible in the glass barricade. |
