Summary

Description
English: Transmission tower (pylon) carrying a 225 kV elecric transmission line near Fessenheim nuclear power station, France. – The rings mounted around the ends of the insulators that support the line are called corona rings. They serve to reduce the electric field at the support points to prevent corona discharge, which causes leakage of current from the line.
