Summary

Description
English: The original seal for the Columbian College was designed by James Peale in 1821. It depicts a Biblical lion laying down with a lamb under a book. The left page of the book contained Greek text that read "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God." The seal was replaced by the The George Washington University in 1905. The Original seal is still used by the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences but the Biblical Greek phrase is omitted.
