Summary

Description
English: Fresh cliff falls, The Naze. The cliffs at the Naze are a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest. They are constantly slumping and eroding due to layers of Red Crag and Tertiary and Quaternary sediments overlaying London Clay. These erode at different rates and reveal many different sorts of fossil. The site is renowned for its early bird fossils, hence its SSSI designation. The higher parts of the cliffs rise to 20m and the mixing of different soils as they slump can be quite spectacular.
