Deutsch: E.J.Muybridge veröffentlichte 1887 781 Bildserien unter dem Titel "Animal Locomotion", die aus 20000 Negativen zusammengestellt wurden. Dieser Bildband enthielt 95 Serien von Pferden, 562 von Männern, Frauen und Kindern sowie 124 Folgen von Tieren und Vögeln. Die abgebildeten männlichen und weiblichen Modelle waren meistens nackt, was dem künstlerischen und wissenschaftlichen Anspruch gerecht zu werden schien, der puritanischen Gesellschaft jedoch zuwiderlief.
