English: Founded by Alexis Korner & Cyril Davies, the Ealing Club at 42A The Broadway, Ealing, London W5 2NP is widely regarded as the cradle of blues-based rock music because of the scene that developed there during 1962-65. Situated in a basement opposite Ealing Broadway station, it was reached by descending the narrow steps of Haven Place, between what at the time was an ABC tearoom and a jewellery shop. The Club is where Mick Jagger & Keith Richards met Brian Jones and is where subsequently, subsequently on Tuesday 15 January 1963 the classic line-up of the Rolling Stones played their first public gig. Another notable event took place at the Ealing Club one Sunday night in 1963 - the first live performance ever to use the classic ‘loud’ Marshall JTM45 guitar amplifier. The band assembled to test the pre-production amp included future Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell — who worked in the Marshall shop in Hanwell, and saxophonist Terry Marshall, the ‘T’ in ‘JTM’.
