O.F.M.~QUI IN LECTURIS OXONIENSIBUS~REPRESENTAVIT DAVIDICUM ILLUD~DOMINUS ILLUMINATIO MEA~HOC LAPIDE A FRATRIBUS SUIS~POSITO POST ANNOS SEPTINGENTOS~COMMEMORATUR A.D.MCMLXVI. A barely adquate translation would be: IOANNES DUNS SCOTUS Ordinis Fratrum Minorum (Franciscan Order of Friars Minor) who in his Oxford lectures represented that famous line of David, "The Lord is my light" (Psalm 27), is commemorated by this stone placed by his brothers after seven hundred years AD 1966.
