English: Family photograph taken in Chilaw. James Alfred Ernest Corea was the son of Charles Edward Bandaranaike Corea and Henrietta Seneviratne. He was also the brother of the freedom fighters Charles Edgar and Victor Corea. He was born in Chilaw, Sri Lanka in 1870 and attended Royal College Colomobo and went to Medical College in Colombo. He practised as a doctor in Chilaw and met Mahatma Ghandi when he visited Chilaw in 1927 on his first and only visit to Ceylon. He married Letitia Grace Alice, daughter of J.C.H Seneviratne and had three children: Bertram, Ivan and Gwendoline. |
