Русский: Портрет графа Д.А. Толстого, президента Императорской Академии наук. Холст, масло. 125,3 х 90,3.

На изображении в левом нижнем углу подпись художника: «ИКрамской»

И.Н. Крамской по заказу Академии наук выполнил с натуры портреты двух ее президентов – Ф.П. Литке (1871) и Д.А. Толстого (1884 ). Как отмечает Д.А. Ровинский, оба портрета с «высочайшего соизволения» были помещены в конференц-зале здания Императорской Академии наук в Петербурге (См.: Ровинский Д.А. Подробный словарь русских гравированных портретов. СПб., 1889. Т.4. Стб.257).
