Summary

Description
English: Dead Man's Island and Channel Marker When the Medway shipping area was riddled with contagious diseases - they used to use hulk ships as accommodation ships and put those sufferers on board. Their bodies were then buried at Burnt Wick Island or Dead Man's Island. Note the timber gravestone posts.

The tower on the righthand side is part of a series of marker towers. Used by boats entering the Swale from the River Medway. There are lots of dangerous mudflats, either side.

The Isle of Grain industrial area is in the background.
