English: 1815 'Route of Cox's Road' Sign - located south of Bathurst west of the village of O'Connell. The road was built by William Cox, soldiers and convicts, and completed in 1815, two years after the town of Bathurst was discovered. This road was built on the orders of Govenor of the Colony of New South Wales, Lachlan Macquarie, to open up the vast lands over the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.
