Description
Nederlands: De in 1793 door Jean-Jacques Gandini uitgeschreven Grondwet is nooit in gebruik genomen. Daarentegen opteerde het Directoire in 1795 voor een tekst die in grote lijnen overeenkwam met de in 1789 opgestelde Grondwet.

De aanleiding voor deze Déclaration des Droits de l'Homme et du Citoyen werd gegeven door enkele decreten in september van het jaar 1792.

  • Op 21 september 1792 gaat de Convention Nationale of Constituante akkoord met volgende zaken: 1. Dat er geen Grondwet kan bestaan tenzij zij wordt aanvaard door het volk. 2. Dat het volk en alle grondgebied onder de hoede van de staat vallen.
  • Op diezelfde dag en de dag erna: "La Convention Nationale décrète à l'unanimité que la royauté est abolie en France."
  • Op 25 september 1792 bekrachtigt de Convention Nationale dat Frankrijk één en onverdeeld(en onverdeelbaar) is.
