English: Clipper Ship Golden West, Outward Bound 1852. Oil on canvas. 32” x 48” (81 cm x 122 cm) Signed: “Wm. Bradford/Fairhaven Mass/1st Month 1853” -LR. American clipper ship Golden West is shown inbound off Boston Light on December 12; 1852. The American ensign flies from the mizzen-gaff hoist and the prominent house flag of Glidden & Williams; first owners of the vessel; is worn at the truck of the main mast. The Little Brewster Island astern to port.
