Description
English: The Cantigny Memorial was dedicated on 9 August 1937. On the side of the memorial appears the inscription :

ERECTED BY THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO COMMEMORATE THE FIRST ATTACK BY AN AMERICAN DIVISION IN THE WORLD WAR.

On the side of the memorial appears the inscription: THE FIRST DIVISION UNITED STATES ARMY OPERATING UNDER THE X FRENCH CORPS CAPTURED THE TOWN OF CANTIGNY ON MAY 28 1918 AND HELD IT AGAINST NUMEROUS COUNTERATTACKS.

French translations of these inscriptions appears on opposite sides of the monument.
Français : Le mémorial de Cantigny a été inauguré le 9 août 1937. sur un côté apparait cette mention :

(Érigé par les États-Unis d'Amérique pour commémorer la première attaque réalisée par une division américaine durant la Grande Guerre. La première division de l'armée américaine a capturé cantigny, opérant sous le Xe corps d'armée français le 28 mai 1918 et l'a conservé malgré de nombreuses contres-attaques.)

Une traduction française de ces inscriptions figure sur la face opposée du monument.
