English: Burroughston Broch, Shapinsay Burroughston Broch was first excavated in 1861, but over the following years it slowly filled with rubble and vegetation. Work began in 1994 to clear out the broch and to consolidate the walls. This work has now been completed and the broch's remarkable internal condition can best be viewed from the grassy bank.
