Title
English: Medicine Container
Description
English: Gourd containers like this stored medicinal substances used at various curing and initiation ceremonies. The wooden stopper, which illustrates Zaramo artists' tendencies toward abstraction, marked and protected the contents. The gourd itself was associated with fertility, probably because of the many seeds it contained.
