Summary

Description

Thin section of a boundstone (i.e., reef rock) from the Carnian (Triassic) of northern Italy. Collected near Rifugio Dibona, Cortina d'Ampezzo (Bl). Reef builders are mostly calcareous sponges, but a scleractinian coral is present in the upper part of the picture.
