Summary
| Description |
Native, yearlong-green, perennial, erect, tufted grass to 1 m tall. Found in grassland or open forest, mostly on heavy textured, well-drained soils. Native biodiversity. Can grow year-round, but most productive in spring and early summer. Has moderate feed quality when kept short, but otherwise usually low due to a high percentage of dead leaf. Persists best in lightly stocked situations. Resting at flowering will aid persistence at higher stocking rates. Seeds can damage fleeces, skin and eyes. Heavy grazing or slashing at early flowering will reduce seed contamination, but may reduce persistence. Unresponsive to fertiliser and tends to decline under super and clover application. |
