En realidad la imagen corresponde a Copiapoa cinerascens (Salm-Dyck) Britton & Rose 1922, que vive en el Parque Nacional Pan de Azúcar y a lo largo de la costa al norte de Chañaral (Región de Atacama).
Copiapoa solaris (Ritter) Ritter 1980 vive más al norte, en La región de Antofagasta -desde el norte de Paposo al norte de Mejillones-.
