Sattar Bawany is a Singapore-based executive coach and leadership development expert recognized for his expertise in disruptive and crisis leadership. He is the CEO and C-Suite Master Executive Coach at the Disruptive Leadership Institute.[1][2]

Bawany is also active as a public speaker and has contributed to various publications on leadership, offering perspectives on how Boards, CEOs, and C-suite executives can adapt to evolving industry demands.[3][4] His written works and publications, available on the institute’s website, are noted for addressing contemporary issues in leadership and organizational strategy.[5][6]

In additoin, he has authored numerous articles, books, and other publications that provide insights into leadership challenges and strategies for crisis management. His notable works include Contributions to Crisis Leadership publications, endorsed on the Disruptive Leadership Institute website and Articles and thought pieces discussing leadership in disruptive times and crisis management in various industry publications.

Bawany founded the Disruptive Leadership Institute, specializing in leadership development programs to prepare executives for volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments.[7] As of 2024, his work focuses on crisis and disruptive leadership, addressing the need for adaptive and resilient leadership in times of rapid change. He is also a recognized thought leader, providing insights and strategies for navigating the insurmountable challenges of the modern business landscape.[8] Through his role at the institute, he collaborates with global corporations and high-level executives to enhance their leadership capabilities.[9]

Social activism

Bawany has been a political and grassroots activist since the early 1980s. As of 2024, he has been actively speaking on the various social issues, including racism in Singapore.[10] Bawany also questioned the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) whether the MAS was alerted to 1MDB-related funds being transferred from a Singapore bank to a Malaysian bank account and how much money belonging to 1MDB was currently being held by MAS or authorities in Singapore.[11][12] He also asked why MAS is still investigating 1MDB case when the matter is already before the courts.[13][14]

In 2021, Bawany wrote a letter to TODAY asking the government to disclose the status of the corruption probe into the Keppel O&M corruption scandal. Bawany pointed out that Keppel O&M was involved in an international corruption saga that took place between 2001 and 2014, with bribes totaling up to US$55 million.[15][16]

  • In 2023, CEO Weekly named him one of the "Top 15 Exceptional Executive Coaches" for his influence in leadership development and coaching.
  • He was recognized as one of the "Top 10 Best CEOs in Singapore" by CEO Insights Asia magazine in 2023.[5]
  • In 2019, Bawany was awarded the "Executive of the Year for Human Resources Consulting" during the Singapore Business Review (SBR) Management Excellence Awards. This recognition highlighted his achievements in human resources consulting.[17]
